Power Above Peace

Why are there many battlefields around the world? Will it ever stop?

In July 2025, a conflict between Thailand and Cambodia sparked violence near the Ta Moan Thom temple. Dozens of Thai people were killed, and many buildings were damaged.

Around the world, there are a lot more conflicts, like Russia and Ukraine, or Palestine and Israel. It's very sad to see how there are always many conflicts. Will our world ever be at peace? It actually seems impossible if weapons are seen as a source of power.

I always see that in our world the power is over all, if a problem is not solved by talking, they often resort to war to show power and superiority. Both the Thais and the Cambodians have given different versions of what happened, both accusing each other. There must be a truth, but we will never know, because they prefer war to talking. They use violence to gain what they want, to win the dispute. But the truth is, war never really solves the problem. It only brings pain, destruction, death, and, above all, hatred and resentment.

This story made me think: when politics leads the war, it’s always civilians who suffer most. The government's decisions and past problems cause an inhuman life for innocent people, children, and babies. In times of war, many families leave their homes, jobs, schools, etc. They lose their safe place, with no food and with no destination.

Likewise, we have already seen many wars in the past that have not caused any good. Even today, we continue to make the same mistakes because we don’t learn.

How many lives must be lost before we choose peace over power? Why do we keep repeating the same mistakes from history? The only thing I can say is that we live in a shameful world.
