U.S. Strike on a Venezuelan Drug Boat

Does killing criminals make you a criminal or a hero?

I just read an article that says the U.S. military attacked a boat in the southern Caribbean Sea, which was carrying drugs. President Trump announced that 11 people were killed in the strike, and he shared a video showing the boat being destroyed. This event has left me with mixed feelings. They stopped a trafficking attempt, but to do that they had to kill several people.

On one hand, I understand why the U.S. used force. Trafficking is a crime, and it's important to stop it as soon as possible. Drug trafficking causes a lot of problems, and groups like Tren de Aragua are linked to serious crimes. But on the other hand, I’m worried about how this strike could make things worse between the U.S. and Venezuela. The article mentions that Venezuela’s President Maduro called the U.S. actions an “extravagant, unjustifiable, immoral and absolutely criminal and bloody threat”. This makes me think the situation can go into something bigger, maybe even a war.

I also wonder about the people on the boat. Destroying a boat and killing 11 people is a huge action. It makes me question if there could have been another way, like capturing the people instead. The attack was very violent, and the video shared by Trump is so shocking. We also don’t know if all of these people were criminals, maybe they killed some people forced to do that.

This news makes me reflect on how hard it is to fight crime while keeping peace. I hope the U.S. and other countries can find ways to stop drug trafficking without causing more damage. It's very sad that we always need to use violence to make peace.

What do you think? Was this attack necessary to stop drug trafficking? It was a good action or a bad action? Share your thoughts in the comments.
